Visiting Museums

A bike tourist photographs a wall covered with names of (supposed) drug consumers in the the National Museum’s Art Museum.

During our bike tours we usually pass near several of Bogotá’s well-known museums, incljuding the Botero Museum, Gold Museum, the National Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, but we usually don’t visit. After all, the museums are mostly nearby and visitors can and do go there on their own.

But, when unusual exhibits are on, particularly in places foreigners tend not to visit on their own, we sometimes go. That was true of two recent exhibitions held on the campus of the National University, one about the damage caused by the illegal cocaine trade and another of erotic art, some of it censored.

These clay heads, from the same exhibition about cocaine use, apparently represent the damage the illegal drug trade does to indigenous people.

These National University students appear to be very interested in erotic artworks on exhibit on campus.
